False Advertiesements:
- "We offer true 24x7 LIVE
technical support you can actually reach!"
What they don't tell you is that
the Toll Free number is always busy, if you call the long distance numbers
they all go to the same voice mail hell (even the sales number) and
you are stuck there in limbo for at least 35 mins. each time, and they
don't always answer the trouble ticket system in a timely manner or even
at all but sometimes even after they do they don't give you an
intelligent response so you need to write back at least a few more times
to get your problem fixed. Half the time they responded to me I
don't think they even read my messages because I just kept getting a
standard form response back. That was one of the most frustrating
things about them.
- "30 DAY Money Back Guarantee!"
In addition to the claim on their front page their policy states that "9. Money Back Guarantee: All of our virtual web hosting plans comes with a 30-day money back guarantee. This means you may cancel your web hosting package with in the first 30 days and receive credit for the unused portion of your account. Any requests for cancellation must be sent only via our Cancellation Request Form at
https://cancel.gisol.com/."
What they don't tell you is that
"The 30 day guarantee only applies if we are unable to setup your account due to problems on our side.".
However, if they don't state that in your policy how can you be expected to
know that ahead of time. I purchased my account for a year in good
faith thinking I could cancel within the first 30 days and get my money back
if their service was unsatisfactory.
- Refund Policy: "11b. For accounts billed on yearly basis, the refund for unused services is calculated as follows: the number of months of used service is multiplied by the standard monthly rate. The amount due for services used will be deducted from the total amount of order, and the difference, if any, will be refunded immediately upon the management's approval to the credit card we have on file."
What they don't tell you is that "refunds are based upon managements approval."
They would not refund me ANY money even though I paid for a full year of the
most expensive plan ($239.40) and cancelled within the first 30 days.
I should've been entitled to a refund of $214.45 according to their
policy! However, they refused to give me ANY money back a
number of times and said they would still cancel my account if I wanted them
to. In fact, they did end up canceling my account and I never got any
money back even though I paid for a whole year and never even did get to the
point where there was a website made publicly available there (because I had
been trying to cancel since before the first 30 days were up). It
wouldn't have hurt them at all to give me a refund for 11 months worth of
service... which is all I asked from them.
- "Offer Expires 11/20/2008". This isn't really a false
advertisement but it's a little misleading in an attempt to get you to sign
up right away. How it works is they display a special promotional
sign-up price on their website and state that it expires that day.
However, it automatically changes each day to the current day's date.
